Backup to Disk then onto Tape or DVD: Data is automatically backed up to the Backup Smart Way disk, then mirrored to a secondary media (Tape or DVD) either immediately or later. This guarantees successful backup, even when no removable is available. Data is firstly backed up on disk, and then copied onto tape. This double level of data replication guarantees the data integrity. Backup Smart way configuration and parameters are saved on a specific file which is then sent to the user and eventually archived on tape. In case of crash or breakdown, the Backup Smart Way configuration is quickly restored, thus avoiding an expensive business discontinuity.
Parallel Backups: Backup Smart Way dynamically and simultaneously manages the number of systems backed up according to network load and data volume. This approach enables to reduce overall backup time and optimise the impact on the network.
Customised Backup Management: Backup Smart Way can perform complete and partial backups of servers and applications without any service interruptions. Only additions and modifications to data are backed up, which optimises network usage and enables backups to be made in shorter time frames.
Warm Backup: Using client agents which interface directly with the operating system and applications, the appliance is able to perform backups while systems such as MS Exchange, Oracle MS SQL, Lotus Notes are up and running. This ensures minimum interference with user's work.
Recovery From Disk: Statistically, 98% of the data to recover comes from backups made over the previous 48 hours. Backup Smart Way stores data from the previous two weeks on its internal disk. This means that data can be recovered immediately from disk, with no need for tape or DVD handling, and significantly reduce costs associated with IT system downtime and tape operations.
Intelligent Backup Engine: It automatically scans the target systems, analyses their content and retrieves the data which need to be backed up. This allows the user to define backup windows during which backups are authorised, using intuitive and user-friendly menus. Backup Smart Way takes care of organising, triggering and scheduling operations and adapts itself to any unplanned events: in the event of power cuts or network problems (bandwidth), Backup Smart Way will redefine priorities and resume incomplete backups.
